Jesús Ángel Miguel-García, Prof., Ldo., M.A., was born in Burgos, Spain. He is founder and director of The Spanish Institute of Manitoba, “considered the leading Spanish-language specialist in Manitoba" (Hon. Heather Stefanson, MLA for Tuxedo).

An award-winning educator, he was a manager (languages) at the Open University in the U.K. Jesús Ángel Miguel-García has established a reputation for the quality of his teaching. He has lectured for over 16 years in Spain, Great Britain: Newcastle University, Sunderland University and Northumbria University, as well as Canadian universities. He also taught at Newcastle Central High School, one of the top five girls schools in England and Wales (Department of Education's report).

COURSES AND SERVICES
The Spanish Institute assists individuals and businesses with Spanish courses, translations, interpretation and consultancy. More than 5,000 students, governmental agencies, corporations, businesses and private individuals have benefited from its Spanish-language courses and services. It also promotes the Spanish language and culture through cultural events and other initiatives.

EXPERTISE AND PROFESSIONALISM
Jesús Ángel Miguel-García
graduated with top honours in Education, finishing first in his class. He went on to study linguistics and literature at Valladolid University, Spain. He w as awarded the prestigious Erasmus scholarship from the European Union to study at Newcastle University, U.K., where he received his M.A. in language teaching. He went on to study for his Ph.D. in knowledge management and e-learning.

Public speaker, he has been a regular guest of the BBC, international television and radio stations for his expertise on education, learning, and political issues, with featured articles in numerous national and international publications.

Jesús Ángel Miguel-García received the prestigious MTS Pioneer Business Award and the Star of the City Hospitality Award by the Mayor of Winnipeg. He was a nominee for the Canada’s Top 40 under 40™ Award, the Award for Excellence in Teaching at the University of Winnipeg and the Lieutenant Governor’s Award.

In 2005, he founded in Winnipeg Translators Without Frontiers™, translating for NGOs such as Amnesty International.

A former member of the Speakers Bureau of the Canadian Club, he has volunteered for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s Community Health Advisory Council, UNICEF, Red Cross, Winnipeg Art Gallery, community and civic groups.
